HAZARDS

RADIATION

Everywhere on the surface of Moscow is cloaked in a veil of dangerous radiation. To breathe in this environment, Artyom and the Rangers must wear gas masks at all times on the surface. The Spartan Order had believed that outside of Moscow was just as uninhabitable, until now…

ANOMALY

A buzzing blue ball of electric energy, anomalies are an oddity of the post-apocalyptic world. Extremely dangerous to any within a certain radius, these strangely alluring spheres can appear in day or night, but tend to follow a similar path every time.

SAND STORMS

The desert is an unforgiving environment at the best of times. The unbearable heat, relentless maintenance required to deal with the sand and - if you're especially unlucky - the storms. These walls of sand reduce visibility and can well prove fatal if cover isn't found in time.

SURVIVAL

Being cut off from civilization is a real challenge to your ability to survive. It's not just the local wildlife and natural hazards that might kill you, but also the lack of resources. Ammunition and supplies are not easy to find here.

CHARACTERS

Metro Exodus boasts an epic storyline, packed with memorable characters. As you journey across Russia you'll bond with your travelling companions, recruit new allies to your cause, and encounter sinister foes in the wastelands…

ARTYOM

Our protagonist.

"WE WERE NOT BORN FOR LIFE IN THE TUNNELS"

Born in Moscow a few years before the nuclear war, Artyom has lived his entire life in the Metro and on many occasions risked his life to protect it. He is obsessed with the idea of finding life beyond the tunnels of the Metro, regularly venturing outside with a radio transceiver, trying to establish communications with the outside world. He is determined to prove that there is, indeed, life outside the Metro.

ANNA

The best sniper of the Spartan Order and Artyom’s wife.

"I want to believe there's a world out there Artyom...I want to dream."

Miller's daughter and Artyom’s wife, Anna is your advisor and will also provide support on missions away from The Aurora. She is regarded as the best sniper amongst the Spartan Rangers, so you can feel at ease with her watching your back. Anna is known for her indomitable attitude, but she still believes in kindness, compromise, and forgiveness, and will advocate for finding a peaceful solution where possible.

MILLER

Colonel, commander of the Order and our leader on this journey.

"Too many lives have already been sacrificed..."

Colonel Miller lost his legs in the battle for D6, but this hasn't slowed him down. Equipped with new metal legs, and as stubborn as ever, he is the commander of the Aurora. Always the military figure, he is rational, calculating and often harsh. Mission success is at the top of Miller’s priority list, but he deeply cares for the Spartans whom, along with Anna, he considers his family.

STEPAN

Human tank and heavy weapon specialist.

"Colonel, sir, we can't just leave them here, they will be eaten alive!"

With years of distinguished service in the ranks of Spartan Rangers, Stepan is part of Miller's personal retinue. A heavy weapon specialist and one of the strongest fighters on The Aurora, towering at least a head taller than the others, he is someone you’d want by your side in any battle. Rest assured that Stepan's position will never be overrun by enemies. Despite his size and intimidating appearance, Stepan is a genuine hopeless romantic, and will always try to help out those in need.

SAM

A seasoned fighter and ex US-Marine.

"Don't worry man, everything's going to be A-OK!"

Before Judgement day, Sam used to guard the US Embassy in Moscow and is now Miller's personal bodyguard. He is loved by the rest of the team, both for his unending optimism and his combat skills, which are second to none. With Sam protecting The Aurora, you know the base of operations is in safe hands. After learning that the world beyond Moscow is not completely dead, he dreams of one day visiting his homeland.

DAMIR

Responsible for keeping the team in one piece.

"This is what life's supposed to be…"

Born in Kazakhstan, Damir has always felt like an outsider in the Rangers. Despite that, he is unwaveringly loyal to Miller and your group. He deeply cares for his comrades and, as your medic for the journey, makes sure everyone gets the attention they need. Going east with the rest of the crew, he hopes to meet some of his relatives on the journey.

IDIOT

Don't judge a book by its cover.

"I think your destiny brought you here…"

Idiot chose his own nickname, but is actually one of the most intelligent in the group. Often found despairing about life, its futility and the struggles of men, Idiot is the resident philosopher aboard The Aurora. He is always arguing for careful deliberation before taking any drastic action.

YERMAK

The Aurora's permanent Helmsman.

"This speed is basically nothing for our old gal…"

A train engineer in his previous life, Yermak is one of the few surviving Metro personnel from before the war. When it comes to The Aurora, Yermak knows absolutely everything. From the complex mechanisms of the steam engine right down to the smallest bolt. He will work tirelessly to keep the 'old gal' running and make sure you get to your destination. You can be sure of that.

KATYA

Every adventure needs a medic.

"Please take us with you…"

Held captive by Silantius Katya is a medic, trained by her mother who was a real Doctor. At first, she seems quiet and unsure of herself, but in fact is quite assertive and will go out of her way to help where she can.

Katya is accompanied by her daughter, Nastya, a child who is captivated by the world around her and always eager to learn more. Used to the horrors of the world she lives in, she still finds it fascinating and wonders at its beauty, going as far as to find the flying mutants called Demons ‘majestic and beautiful’.

NASTYA

Child of the apocalypse.

"They come out at night, and they light up, so pretty..."

Nastya is Katya's young daughter, held captive by Silantius with her mother, she has already seen so much in her young life, yet still sees the beauty in the world she lives in.

Adopting the crew on the Aurora as her family almost immediately, Nastya sees more than anyone realises, and is sympathetic even to the mutants.

GUIL

Tyrants will never take her freedom.

"Anyone who kills the Munai-bailer is my friend…"

Freedom fighter Guil has a mission to save her people from slavery to the Munai-bailer. The War allowed tyrants to convince her people that they were gods of fire to ensure their compliance.

Guil's mother worked at the Communications Centre in the Caspian Sea. Unfortunately, she died there too when Guil was just ten years old. She has survived the wastes alone ever since. Never going too deep into the Communications Centre in her search for a trace of her mother for fear of the Spiders that lurk within.

KREST

Trader. Traveller. Romanticist. Con artist.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you"

A seasoned adventurer with a 'rugged' style and overflowing charisma; Krest is an instant hit with all who meet him.

He also happens to be a natural-born engineer. Which could come in very handy if you were, for example, to take a large steam engine on an epic journey across the boundless Russian wasteland.
